The Steering Group approves the Project Portfolio
Published May 31, 2024
The Steering Group decided to approve a portfolio of 12 NEXT projects, which are distributed across our 4 archetypal characterisation challenges.
In the NEXT Competence Centre, the Steering Group represents the consortium as a whole - and should meet frequently in order to make formal decisions about key issues. One such key issue is the Project Portfolio.
At the meeting on 28 May, the Steering Group decided to approve the following project portfolio.
ACC 1 Stress, strain, damage and failure
- Project 1.1 High-temperature residual stresses and phase transformations in CVD coatings
- Project 1.2 Stresses and damage in super alloys during thermal and mechanical cycling
- Project 1.3 Strain, stress and damage evolution in alloys during cyclic loading considering the interplay of microstructure, surface hardening and overload
ACC 2 Environmental effects of surface integrity
- Project 2.1 In-situ corrosion investigation of the metallic alloys
- Project 2.2 Microstructure and damage evolution in hydrogen environments
ACC 3 Manufacturing
- Project 3.1 Solidification and phase transformation control for sustainable manufacturing
- Project 3.2 Tool and tool piece interdependencies
- a. Surface and functional performance of machined difficult-to-cut-metals
- b. Tool wear in sustainable machining of difficult-to-cut metals
- Project 3.3 Manufacturing composites with energy efficiency and reduced defects
ACC 4 High throughput
- Project 4.1 High-throughput experiments supporting CALPHAD-based and mechanics-based modelling
- Project 4.2 High-throughput ex-situ measurements of phases, chemistry, porosity, defects and stresses
- Project 4.3 From high throughput lab-scale to infrastructure-scale
