4.3 From high throughput lab-scale to infrastructure-scale

Making a comparative analysis of lab-scale and large-scale measurements methods and devising guidelines for effective R&I

Project summary

The project will explore high-throughput x-ray measurements on the laboratory scale as well as the synchrotron scale. Currently it is not well known how the lab-scale and large-scale compares for different types of measurement methods. In order to be efficient in R&I it is therefore critical to develop a better understanding. The different measurement methodologies applied to various materials will be mapped, and the benefits and drawbacks outlined. Thereafter, recommendations and strategies for how to most effectively use various lab-scale equipment as well as synchrotron facilities for effective R&I within NEXT and also for the partners outside of NEXT can be proposed. It is important to include also different types of synchrotron facilities in order to plan the beamtime applications. The project aims to benchmark SAXS, WAXS, XRF, Radiography, Tomography and 3DXRD on lab- and synchrotron-scale.
